How Does SMR Plant Work
Steam methane reforming (SMR) associated with the PSA purification technology is the most economical and environmental and robust process for the hydrogen generation in the worldwide. It dominates the hydrogen demand in worldwide.
The natural gas or LPG is desulphurized and mixed with steam and converted into the syngas in the natural gas-fired reformer. Then, syngas is cooled down and fed to a CO-shift converter where the CO is further converted into the CO2 and extra hydrogen. The resulting gas is further cooled down to the ambient temperature, and then a PSA unit is used to separate hydrogen from other gaseous compounds.
